fascination for design and building. As a small boy in Denver, he was intrigued by two large I. M. Pei designed complexes being constructed over two city blocks. Following his interests, he graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Architecture, where he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree, with Distinction. While attending Minnesota, Ralph Rapson, Dean of the school at that time encouraged Bill to attend graduate school and referred him to both Harvard and MIT. Accepted at both institutions, Bill attended MIT as a Jonathan Whitney Fellow. Following graduation from MIT Bill worked for ten years with Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo Associates in Hamden, Connecticut, William Muchow Associates in Denver, Colorado, William L. Pereira Associates, Welton Becket and Associates and Charles Kober Associates, all in the Los Angeles area. With these firms Bill gained experience in master planning, design for office, hospitality and regional mall projects, and then applied that experience to his own firm, established in 1978. Later, the firm added cinemas, food service, and adaptive re-use into the mix.
